A New York beauty company called Neora has closed its doors after a five-year deal with Amazon to sell its hair products.
The company was founded by former stylists and hairstylists.
“We are deeply saddened by the closing of Neora and its talented team, many of whom have been with us for more than 30 years,” CEO David Siegel said in a statement.
“Our partnership with Amazon was a great one that has given us access to one of the fastest growing markets in the world and to a talented and highly motivated team.
We look forward to building Neora into a new company and continuing to serve our loyal customer base.”
Amazon announced the deal in November.
The New York Times reports that the deal is worth $3.4 billion.
It’s unclear if Neora will sell its beauty products to other retailers.
Neora was the first of several companies to buy beauty companies after Amazon bought beauty brand L’Oréal in 2014.
A year later, Neora launched its own line of cosmetics, and a few months later it began selling its own haircare.
Neona was founded in 2003.
It specializes in creating and delivering innovative, innovative haircare, face care and personal care products.
Neoras products have been praised for helping women stay healthy and look their best, and it’s often called the “fearless hair salon.”
Amazon’s move to buy Neora came on the heels of a deal between Neora CEO and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
Bezos had said earlier this year that Amazon had already bought several of Neoras competitors.
